Savoyards Musical Comedy Society Inc. is excited to announce its 60th Anniversary year.
To celebrate, Savoyards is taking a journey back in time by launching the Savoyards Archive – a treasure trove of memorabilia honouring the history as Queensland’s longest continuously running musical theatre society.
The site includes copies of original programmes, photos and news clippings for productions from 1961 to present. The first ten years of history is currently available at www.savoyardsarchive.online and decades will be progressively released throughout 2021.
The Savoyards Star Committee is also presenting “60 Years in 60 Minutes”, a unique insight into what it takes to bring a Savoyards production to life on the stage. Hosted by Graham Colenutt, this series of five-minute episodes will take you on a journey from show selection right through to opening night. It’s a wonderful opportunity to look behind the curtain and see how the magic of a great night at the theatre is created. The series can be found on the Savoyards website at www.savoyards.com.au.
Savoyards has been honoured to bring music and theatre to the Brisbane bayside community for over 60 years, and look forward to bringing Hot Shoe Shuffle and The Drowsy Chaperone to the stage later this year. Keep your eyes out for ticket sales announcements!
