Get outside and explore the array of colours, textures and curious critters awaiting by the water’s edge. From mangrove forests to sandy beaches, the Bayside area is ideal territory for children to discover a love of nature and learn about caring for the environment.
For the older or more adventurous, why not learn a new sport such as sailing, windsurfing, stand-up paddle boarding or kayaking? Or hire scooter bikes and cruise along the esplanade.
Explore the whimsical Mad Hatters Bookshop, with its very own magical Harry Potter themed room, and regular activities, events and themed parties. Visit their Facebook page (@TheMadHattersBookshop) for event details.
Drop into the Wynnum Manly Visitor Information Centre (WMVIC) on William Gunn Jetty to explore all the local tours and trips on offer. While you’re there be sure to pop into the Moreton Bay Discovery Centre next door and peek at the exciting new wildlife displays, which are visually captivating and full of practical conservation tips, making a great outing for school-aged children.
Satisfy hungry bellies with takeaway fish and chips by the water, or one of the many family-friendly restaurants around town – including Lido Italia, Thai Boat, or Marina Crest Chinese Restaurant.
Search for treasures at the Manly Creative Markets on Sundays from 8am – 2pm in Little Bayside Park, or take your budding chefs along to Jan Powers Farmers Market, held every 1st & 3rd Saturday of the month (3rd only in January), and pick up some fresh seasonal and locally grown produce to cook up a storm in the kitchen. And make sure to bring a picnic along to enjoy free monthly Movies in the Park, held on the first Saturday of every month – or go gold class and have the set-up sorted for you!
