After a decade of teaching in Australia and more than 1,400 students trained, renowned Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Professor, Carlos Bozano Collor, is expanding his impact once again – this time with a dedicated Self-Defence for Seniors program at Base Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, Victoria Point.
Professor Collor, a 6th Degree Black Belt, has built a reputation for delivering authentic, effective, and accessible martial arts training for children, teens, and adults. His academy is known for its supportive culture, technical excellence, and a commitment to helping everyday people feel safer, stronger, and more capable.
Now, responding to community demand and the growing focus on the wellbeing and independence of older Australians, Base Gracie Jiu-Jitsu is proud to introduce a weekly class specifically for seniors.
The classes are designed to promote safety, confidence, and mobility in seniors. Launching Wednesday, 4 February 2026, from 10:00am to 11:00am, the new program focuses on:
- Improving balance and stability;
- Developing practical self-defence skills;
- Increasing situational awareness;
- Supporting mobility and functional movement;
- Building confidence in a familiar, friendly environment;
- Thinking clearly under pressure.
The first class is free, giving seniors the opportunity to try the program with zero pressure.
These sessions are tailored to meet seniors where they are – no experience needed, no pressure, just smart, effective training that empowers participants while respecting their individual capabilities.
“All seniors are welcome,” says Professor Collor. “Our goal is to provide a safe, encouraging space where older adults can learn skills that genuinely make a difference in their daily lives.”
Located at 21/27 Bunker Road, Victoria Point, Base Gracie Jiu-Jitsu is a trusted martial arts academy offering established programs in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu and self-defence for all ages.
