FROM RICHIE’S RAINBOW
Lace up your walking shoes and join us for the 4th Annual Richie’s Rainbow Walk at Lota Park on Sunday, March 30. The walk represents a day of community, remembrance, and hope for families affected by childhood cancer.
This year’s walk is extra special, as Richie’s Rainbow celebrates its third year of operation. In just three years, the charity has made a significant impact, raising over $350,000 for childhood cancer research and family support. One of its standout initiatives, Richie’s iPad Scheme, has already provided over 100 iPads to children undergoing oncology treatment, helping them stay connected and engaged during their fight.
The event is held in memory of Richie Walsh, a brave young boy who battled Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare childhood cancer, with treatments that had not changed in decades. His fight inspired the creation of Richie’s Rainbow, a movement dedicated to ensuring that no child faces cancer alone and that more funding goes toward research for better, more effective treatments.
Participants can take part in a 5km or 10km scenic walk along the bay, starting at 10:00am, with registration and activities beginning at 9:00am. The event is about more than just walking – it brings people together to honour Richie’s legacy, and advocate for real change in childhood cancer treatment.
“We walk for Richie and for every child fighting cancer today,” says the Richie’s Rainbow team. “Together, we can change the future.”
Join us in turning heartbreak into hope. Every step counts.
