For 47 years, SCOPE Australia has quietly championed grassroots support and education across communities. At the Wynnum branch, a dedicated group of women – self-funded and full of heart – meet monthly to brainstorm practical ways to uplift those in need.

Led by dedicated members, the Wynnum team brings generosity and creativity to every initiative. Their recent Father’s Day raffle was a standout success, thanks to generous donations from Bunnings (a four-burner barbecue), menswear retailer Sonny Jim (a gift pack), and Dan Murphy’s (a $50 voucher). It’s just one of the many events they run to raise funds and awareness.

But their impact goes far beyond prize draws. Each year, the group funds a student scholarship, nominated by a local school principal, helping a young person access education and opportunity. They also contribute $50 monthly to Pete’s Pantry, ensuring meals are provided to those doing it tough in our community.

SCOPE Wynnum’s support extends to Micah Projects, a Brisbane-based organisation working to prevent domestic violence by guiding and empowering men in the community. It’s a partnership rooted in compassion and long-term change.

The group’s next big event is a cent auction on November 7 at St Pete’s Hall, Wynnum, where community-donated prizes will be up for grabs. It’s a chance to support local efforts, meet the women behind the work, and maybe even walk away with a treat.

The SCOPE Club of Wynnum meets at the Manly Lota RSL Sub Branch on Melville Terrace at Manly (Qld) on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month at 10:30a.m. New members are welcome.
