FROM REDLANDS COAST PROPERTIES
What started as the brainchild of local real estate agent Louise Denisenko from Redlands Coast Properties in 2021, the charity dinner and auction There’s No Place Like Home has become an important annual fundraiser in the fight against homelessness.
The inaugural charity dinner was held at the Cleveland Courthouse restaurant with 120 attendees, most of whom were from the real estate community, raising funds for locals experiencing homelessness via Redland Community Centre in Capalaba. Louise has been supported by fellow industry ladies including Bianca Stubbs, Tanya Flood Campbell (First National Cleveland) Julie O’Callaghan (@Realty) and Leanne Borjarski (Re/Max) who help coordinate the event.
The second event was held in 2022 at the Redlands Sporting Club Wellington Point, where, again, it was a huge success with more businesses attending. The third dinner and auction was held in 2023 at the Alexandra Hills Hotel (also the venue for this year’s event) and raised over $42,000.
This year, funds raised will be channelled to Homeless United. This much-needed service assists people in getting back into housing, getting their lives back on track, and entering the workforce run by Redland Community Centre.
With housing being in such short supply and the homelessness crisis increasing with the cost-of-living pressures and rental prices skyrocketing, we all need to be aware of this issue and support it where possible.
