On Saturday, October 11, at 6:30pm, the fifth annual There’s No Place Like Home Charity Dinner and Auction will be held at the Alexandra Hills Hotel as a major fundraising event supporting homelessness in the Redlands community.
Founded by local real estate agent Louise Denisenko of Redlands Coast Properties in 2021, this annual event has become the largest of its kind in the Redlands, dedicated to raising funds for Redland Community Centre’s Homeless United program, run by CEO Ronan Wicks and his team. This vital initiative assists individuals experiencing homelessness or those at risk, helping them secure housing, rebuild their lives, and re-enter the workforce.
Previous events held:
- 2021: Cleveland Courthouse with 120 attendees,
primarily from the real estate industry, raising $20,600 - 2022: Redlands Sporting Club, with increased business
and community involvement, raised $32,624 - 2023: Alexandra Hills Hotel, with over $42,860 raised
- 2024: Alexandra Hills Hotel, with $50,452 raised, breaking previous records
This year’s event is shaping up to be the biggest yet, with nearly 200 tickets already sold.
Louise Denisenko expressed her gratitude for the ongoing generosity of real estate professionals and local businesses, who have donated raffle and auction items. She acknowledged the essential support of her team and fellow industry colleagues, including Bianca Stubbs, Tanya Campbell Flood (First National Cleveland), Julie O’Callaghan (@Realty), and Leanne Bojarski (REMAX On Point), who help bring the event to life each year.
With the housing crisis intensifying due to high rental prices and cost-of-living pressures, support for those experiencing homelessness is more critical than ever. Homeless United provides a lifeline for many in our region, and events like this ensure that vital services continue to be available.
The evening promises a vibrant atmosphere filled with a three-course meal, drinks, live entertainment, a charity auction, and raffle prizes, all aimed at raising money to make a difference in the lives of those in need.
