The University of the Third Age (U3A) Redlands continues to enrich the lives of local seniors by offering opportunities to learn, connect, and celebrate community. During Queensland’s Seniors Month in October, U3A Redlands played an active role in festivities, hosting and joining events that highlighted the vibrancy of older residents. Activities ranged from a sunset cruise on Moreton Bay and a golf tournament at Carbrook, to a lively entertainment showcase at the Redlands Performing Arts Centre and participation in the Cleveland Aquatic Centre’s seniors’ celebration. These events not only encouraged seniors to try new experiences, but also showcased the dedication of volunteers who organised them.
U3A Redlands is part of a worldwide movement that promotes lifelong learning and social engagement for people in their “third age” – the stage of life beyond full-time work and child-rearing. Members can choose from a wide variety of classes and activities, from arts and languages to fitness and technology, all designed to foster curiosity, creativity, and friendship.
To welcome newcomers and showcase its programs, U3A Redlands will host its annual Open Day on Friday, 16 January 2026, from 9:00am to 11:30am at the Birkdale Sports Club. The event offers a chance to meet tutors, explore course options, and discover how joining U3A can open doors to new skills and connections.
