CONTRIBUTED BY WYNNUM RSL
This year the Wynnum RSL Club, in partnership with the Department of Veterans Affairs, will be hosting an Expo on Saturday 16th October for Veterans’ Health Week.
This Expo aims to connect Service Members with the support and facts needed to make more informed decisions about their health and wellbeing. This free event is open to all ex-servicemen and women and their families. We encourage you to attend as the past year-and-a-half has been difficult on everyone’s health, and this is a wonderful opportunity to create a better lifestyle, plus get to know other service members around the area over a cup of coffee and morning tea.
During this pandemic we have all been a witness to the toll COVID-19 has had on our mental wellbeing. The correlation between mental and physical health is paramount and one is often reflective of the other. We encourage all to choose mindfulness and listen to your body; reaching out is the first step on achieving a better lifestyle. Sometimes all it takes is a friendly chat to get started.
Support staff from some of our local health practices, community groups and clubs will be looking forward to meeting members and discussing services they can assist with. Representatives from QLD RSL and from Everyman’s Welfare Service will also be in attendance to provide information on veteran services available.
