FROM THE ROTARY CLUB OF WYNNUM AND MANLY

The Rotary Club of Wynnum and Manly’s campaign against domestic violence is gaining momentum!

Members of the club have adopted a ‘purple Friday’ theme, meeting at different venues in the Wynnum/Manly area on Friday mornings for coffee and to engage with local businesses and people.

The first gathering was at Frenchies on Bay Terrace, with subsequent visits to Pelican’s Nest on the esplanade, Banette Bayside and Second Home, both on Bay Terrace. Twenty-three members enjoyed Second Home on Friday, October 4; their many purple shirts made quite a splash!

When you see our members with the purple shirts having coffee at a venue in Wynnum or Manly (every Friday morning from 8.00am) please join us and have a talk.

The club is seeking support from everyone in the community for this campaign, and the dream is to have the whole area awash with purple shirts on Fridays. This demonstration of community support for action against domestic and family violence will send a powerful message to all.

Businesses are being approached to join the club in promoting this campaign, with the hope that employees and associates of these businesses will purchase purple shirts and wear them on Fridays. If you would like to get a shirt, please email the club secretary ([email protected]), and Les Louis will contact you.
