When it comes to building community, few non-profit organisations do it better than Wynnum’s Waterloo Bay Leisure Centre. Run by a fantastic crew of tireless volunteers, the centre’s jewel is the 135-year-old Shire Clerk’s Cottage, maintained by funds from hosting events like the regular art and craft markets.
Volunteers work to host a packed schedule of classes, concerts and special events at the Tingal Road location, designed to bring people of all ages together — including a new weekly initiative to provide meals to those in need.
You can support the centre this month by hopping along to the Shire Clerk’s Cottage Easter Market on
April 12. Browse more than 70 stalls, then take a seat on the breezy cottage verandah for a divine Devonshire Tea – the scones are baked fresh on market day, and they’re irresistible! More details are on page 2.
