CONTRIBUTED BY THE ZONTA CLUB OF WYNNUM REDLAND
The Zonta Club of Wynnum Redland celebrated International Women’s Day with a dinner at the Alexandra Hills Hotel.
Over 100 guests braved the weather to hear Assistant Commissioner Katherine Innes of the Crime and Intelligence Command of the Queensland Police Service.
Katherine spoke about her service in all aspects of policing over 29 years. Her comments on preventing offending and reoffending, particularly in juveniles, were very interesting. Katherine also spoke of the value of community involvement to complement the work of the police service.
The dinner also celebrated the presentation of the Zonta Club of Wynnum Redland annual Young Women in Public Affairs Award. Five amazing young women applied for the award, which Olivia Chissel won. Olivia attended the 2021 dinner with Her Cleveland District State High School cohort and is now studying at the University of Queensland. Olivia’s speech left the audience in awe of the calibre of young women in our community.
