Residents wanting to learn more about aged care, home support and retirement services will have the opportunity to access expert advice at a free expo in Victoria Point.
The inaugural Redlands Aged Care Expo, organised by the Aged Care Events Community (ACEC), will be held at the Sharks Sporting Club on August 11, bringing together around 30 services under the one roof.
Visitors will be able to learn about local services that cover everything from in-home and residential aged care to allied health, mobility aids, funeral planning, financial planning, travel and more.
Some of the exhibitors who will be in attendance include Carinity Home Care, BlueCare, Hearing Australia, Australian Audiology, Empower Healthcare, Joya Medical Supplies, BOQ Victoria Point, ADA Australia, Talk Health Therapy, the Ethnic Communities Council of Queensland, George Hartnett Metropolitan Funerals Cleveland, McCartney Family Funerals, and Great Southern Memorial Park.
ACEC engagement specialist Micharla Russell said many people struggle to navigate the aged care system because they were unaware of the services available or where to seek advice.
“Too often, people miss out on essential support simply because they don’t know what’s available, where to start or who to talk to,” she said.
“This free expo brings together local residents, families, carers, community organisations and service providers to create opportunities for face-to-face conversations, practical guidance and genuine community connection.
“Providers across the region want to connect more deeply with local residents, and this event gives people the chance to ask questions and access information in one place.”
ACEC, which has hosted similar events across Australia, describes itself as an independent organisation that delivers community-focused expos free from competing service interests.
The expo will be held from 10:00am to 1:00pm.
