The Redlands Coast is a place of natural beauty, rich wildlife and treasured local history. Inspired by this remarkable region, local author and illustrator Sandy Clark has created a unique series of three children’s books that encourage families to explore, learn and connect with the area’s iconic landscapes and wildlife.
Written and illustrated by Sandy, the series centres on the Chook Family and their good friends the Koalas, combining engaging storytelling with colourful illustrations to create an experience that is fun, interactive and educational for readers of all ages. The books inspire children and adults alike to discover the local environment while developing a greater appreciation for one of Australia’s most loved native animals.
Adding another dimension to the adventure, each book now includes a QR code that allows readers to scan and listen to an original song written by Sandy’s husband Michael. The music brings the stories to life, making the experience even more memorable for children and families.
For those wanting to enjoy the songs anywhere, an MP3 player is also available, preloaded with three original tracks: the Redlands Old Koala Trail song, the Chook Family Rap, and the Icki Biki Family song. Together, the books and music create a complete storytelling experience that entertains while encouraging learning and exploration.
Sandy and Michael’s creative partnership showcases the talent within the Redlands Coast community while celebrating the region’s wildlife, history, and sense of place. Their books, songs and gift collection are a reminder that some of the most meaningful adventures begin right in our own backyard.
