Wynnum Manly Leagues Club has once again reinforced its strong commitment to the local area, awarding $75,616 to 21 not-for-profit organisations through its 2026 Community Grants Program.
The successful recipients were celebrated at a Community Grants Presentation Evening held at the club on August 5, where representatives from schools, sporting clubs and community organisations gathered to receive funding that will support projects benefiting the bayside.
Since launching the Community Grants Program in 2016, Wynnum Manly Leagues Club has invested more than $578,000 into grassroots initiatives that strengthen the region, improve facilities and create opportunities for people of all ages. This forms part of the club’s broader giving, with almost $24.9 million returned to the bayside since 1997 through grants, sponsorships and community partnerships.
This year’s funding will support a diverse range of projects across the region, including:
- Silky Oaks Children’s Haven – improving the safety and efficiency of its community pantry with new equipment and shelving.
- Wynnum Manly Hawks Basketball Club – purchasing equipment to enhance volunteer fundraising and improve the game-day experience.
- The Sharing Shed Foundation – supporting the servicing, repair and transport of donated mobility equipment for people in need.
- Wynnum Manly Murri’s Sporting Club – helping players and coaches take part in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander football carnivals across Queensland.
Club Chairman, Brett Mooney of Wynnum Manly Leagues Club, said the Community Grants Program continues to reflect the club’s long-standing commitment to supporting organisations that make a genuine difference across the region.
“Supporting our local community has always been a key priority for us. These grants allow us to partner with incredible organisations that are creating positive change, providing opportunities and helping strengthen the area we’re proud to be part of,” Mooney said.
