Annie Sharp was born on 20/4/1926 in Alexandria, Glasgow, Scotland, to Duncan and Sarah Morrison (Hunter).

Annie grew up with her brother Duncan in Glasgow, enjoying life in the Vale of Leven. She lived through the German bombing of the industrial areas while working in a torpedo munitions plant. During the war, she met her future husband, Buchanan Sharp, who was a merchant marine engineer sailing in Atlantic convoys.

After the war, Annie worked in various jobs, including at the Ballantines Whiskey Distillery. They married in 1951 and settled in Glasgow. After Buchanan passed away, Annie cared for her parents. They enjoyed cruising the Mediterranean and to the Azores and Canary Islands.

After her parents passed away, Annie migrated to Australia to live with Duncan. Living initially at Wynnum West in the family home, they moved to a small grazing property just outside of Kingaroy. While there, Annie enjoyed the country life and lawn bowls.

Returning to Wynnum West, Annie and Duncan embarked on an extensive series of cruises on Cunard and P&O liners. She played lawn and indoor bowls with the Wynnum RSL Bowls Club. As a war widow, Annie was involved in Legacy and the Wynnum RSL Auxiliary.

Annie remained independent after Duncan’s death and moved to St Vincent’s Care at Carina aged 99.5. At St Vincent’s, she takes part in daily walks, bingo and any activities she can manage. Annie had no children but is involved in the lives of her brother’s descendants who live in Brisbane, Murgon, Canberra and Dubai.
