If you must know why there’s a helicopter circling Wynnum, vent about someone’s dog doing a ‘dump and run’ on your lawn, or marvel at the revolving door of lost pets at Manly Road Vet, you know where to go: Wynnum-Manly’s community Facebook pages.
These popular yet sometimes nonsensical Facebook pages are community hubs of pure emotion, bravely moderated by small armies of volunteers who don’t miss a beat when it comes to local goings on. And since daily life is often a parody of comedy, it’s a genius move for local comedians to base a Wynnum Fringe comedy show on the social media pages that are a guilty pleasure for many.
Comedians Emma Zammit and Kat Davidson are excited to debut Wynnum Watch! at the Fringe. Each show dives headfirst into the neighbourhood chaos, inspired by local social media posts, and features a special guest comedian who will add their own opinion on the suburb’s most pressing issues. It’s part stand-up, part community group intervention, and one you won’t want to miss!
