One K Takeaway
In March, the Bayside Community Fund’s (BCF) inaugural One K Takeaway kicked off. Local community groups are invited to a networking evening, and those who attend put their organisation’s name in a hat, from which a winner is drawn for a $1,000 cash prize. In March, we invited P&Cs and P&Fs from local schools, and the lucky winner was Wondall Heights State School.
Representatives from local community groups are encouraged to come along to the next networking night on September 9, where they can put their organisation’s name in the hat for the chance to win the One K Takeaway. Keep an eye out for more information on The Community Leader’s What’s On page online and on the Bayside Community Fund’s website.
Financial Update
The BCF has now raised over $100,000 in its first three years, and that money is invested with Queensland Gives under guidance from the Queensland Investment Corporation. Each year, Queensland Gives pays a dividend on the investment back to the BCF for distribution to local community organisations. This year, the BCF is pleased to provide a grant of $3,175.62 to Sailability Bayside.
Community Raffle
The BCF is proud to support the community via a raffle, run in conjunction with the Bendigo Bank Wynnum Manly and Victoria Point branches.
The last three community raffles have seen 73,757 tickets sold by 96 organisations, raising $368,685 for local not-for-profit community groups, and $90,000 in prize money has been won by 39 people.
Participating organisations selling raffle tickets keep 100 per cent of the proceeds from ticket sales.
