A celebration of mind, body and soul is set to return to Burbank on June 14, with the Yoga Festival Brisbane promising a full day of movement, mindfulness and community connection.

Now in its second year, the festival will be held from 9:00am to 4:00pm on June 14 at the Hare Krishna Temple, one week before the International Day of Yoga.

Following a successful debut last year, which drew more than 500 attendees from across Brisbane, the Redlands organiser Sneha Ghandi is excited to once again welcome yogis of all levels for a day of health and wellbeing.

“We certainly did not expect that many people last year, so we knew this was something we had to do again,” she said.

This year’s program will feature multiple spaces running simultaneously, offering a wide range of yoga styles, including vinyasa, chair yoga, gentle flow, power yoga, slow flow, and yoga for kids.

Alongside the movement classes, attendees can also take part in a variety of meditation and mindfulness sessions, including breathwork, EFT tapping, Japa mantra meditation, sound baths, kirtan (devotional music), and teachings from the Bhagavad Gita.

“We’ll also have more markets and stalls than last year, as well as henna and face painting,” Sneha said.

“Everyone will also receive a nourishing, wholesome lunch designed to support the body without feeling too heavy.

“We’ve also extended the day because last year people didn’t want to leave – they were having so much fun they just wanted to stay.”

As a certified yoga instructor, Sneha said the festival is about more than physical practice.

“People often forget the true meaning of yoga, which is the connection of the mind, body and soul,” she said.

“That’s why we are very authentic in everything we offer.

“People go to the gym and focus on the outside, but it’s just as important to look after what’s happening within.

“Yoga helps reduce stress, improve flexibility and bring mental clarity through movement, breath and meditation.”

A $10 donation secures your entry to the festival, with all proceeds supporting future community events and wellness programs.

“Last year we were able to run four additional retreats – three of which were free for the community, and we’re hoping to do even more this year.”
